Twenty fine hand-coloured portraits of famous contemporary actors and actresses, (after paintings by Sharp, Clint, De Wilde, Waldeck, and others). These include Cooper, Copeland, De Begnis, Mm. Bland, S. Booth, Dowton, Fitzwilliam, Gattie, Harley, Hullin, Kean, Knight, Le Blond, Noblet, Mrs. Siddons, Simmonds, G. Smith, Smithson, Wilkinson and Young. Each portrait is accompanied by a short biographical notice. Daniel Terry was an actor and friend of Sir Walter Scott, many of whose novels he adapted for the stage. In 1825, together with Yates, he bought the Adelphi Theatre, but this partnership only lasted for two seasons. Arnott & Robinson, English Theatrical Literature 1559-1900, 2228.
