This volume is number 9 of the 'Publikasiereeks' of the 'Nasionale Raad vir Sosiale Navorsing' of the 'Departement van Onderwys, Kuns en Wetenskap.' 8vo; original black cloth, lettered in gilt on spine and upper cover; pp. (x) + 629. Joints very slightly rubbed; some moderate foxing. Very good condition. 'Toe ek in 1947 deel I van die Bronnegids by die Studie van die Afrikaanse Taal en Letterkunde uitgegee het, was dit nie moontlik om ook die skeppende werk (verhale, gedigte, drama) en gegewens i.v.m. die Afrikaanse taalstryd en ander sake, wat ná 1900 in ons tydskrifte en koerante verskyn het, daarin op te neem nie. ... Daar is nie 'n groot aanvraag vir hierdie soort materiaal nie, maar daar is tog studente wat dit soms nodig kry, en vir hulle wou ek dit beskikbaar stel. Dit dek die tydperk 1900 tot ongeveer 1952. Koerante is nagegaan tot einde 1944. Wat tydskrifte betref, het ek by 1952 opgehou, omdat verdere inligting verkrygbaar is in die waardevolle werk van die Johannesburgse Openbare Biblioteek: Index to South African Periodicals, wat jaarliks gepubliseer word.' .
