Sobre este artículo
New York,, 1956. First Edition Thus. Hardback. Dust Jacket.. Slight wear to dust jacket, otherwise very good.. First published in 1929. 8vo. pp. [vi], 273. Original publisher's grey and turquoise cloth lettered turquoise on spine. Cream and turquoise dust jacket with portrait of the author on rear cover lettered cream and turquoise. Asa Benveniste's copy with his initials and dated 1956 in biro. Loosely inserted separate pamphlet published to accompany the book entitled 'An Introduction to Brothers and Sisters: A Novel by Ivy Compton Burnett' by Asa Benveniste, New York, The Zero Press, 1956. pp. 10. Stapled as issued. With two corrections in Benveniste's hand. Ivy Compton-Burnett (1884 1969) wrote about family life with wit and perception - so much so that Virginia Woolf wrote in her diary that her own writing was 'much inferior to the bitter truth and intense originality of Miss Compton-Burnett.' Asa Benveniste (1925 1990) was an American poet and radio dramatist, who also worked as a book designer and typographer, and finally a bookseller. He co-founded the Zero Press with George Solomos, before settling in England in the 1950s. Spine a little dulled, slight edgewear and a few marks to dust jacket, otherwise very good.
