Based on the publisher's archives, here is a comprehensive history of Bruno Cassirer's London and Oxford years and an annotated bibliography of almost every book the firm published then (some co-editions are left out). The bibliography is illustrated and full of detail. The essays by various contributors, each in English and German, cover the beginnings of the firm in England, its 1930s years in Germany, Oxford art book publishers in the 1940s (Cassirer, Phaidon, Oxford), the antiquarian bookseller Martin Breslauer, and other related subjects.
