Important work on the evolution of clothing in nineteenth century Texas. As described in the foreword by Stanley Marcus, "this study is significant not only as a survey of what men and women wore during the frontier days of Texas, but as an explanation of how and why certain articles of apparel originated. It demonstrates the strong human desire for ornamentation and decoration that has existed from the beginning of civilization.
