Working copy of classic pattern book. From 1724 onwards, there was a huge demand among ordinary builders for little books like this which gave simple ways to calculate the proportions and details of classical architecture. This copy with various annotations, sums, cost lists, drawings, children's drawings and provenance notes ('Benjamin Evans. His Book. ... Llandudno', 'Benjamin Evans Macon [mason]', 'to me ... for worke done in the year 1791'). Lacks frontispiece and t.p. and pp. 7-8, also lacks plates 36 and 93-99. 135 mm (12mo). Binding almost detached, some loss to foot of spine, slight fire damage to corner of a few pages. Photographs available on request. All books dispatched same or next working day in robust packaging.
