Sobre este artículo

[New York]: CBS Records. Near Fine in Very Good dj. (c.1967). First Edition. Hardcover. [nice tight clean copy, just a touch of wear at top of spine; jacket lightly soiled on rear panel, top and bottom edges of both flaps look to have been slightly insect-nibbled, but no visible external evidence of this]. (The CBS Legacy Collection) Series (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the second front endpaper: "To Nick / Cordially / Norman Mailer / Jan. '88." Per the jacket blurb, this was "the most unusual book to be published about the bullfight. It is, through the use of a single photograph on each page, arranged in the natural order of one complete corrida de toros, an almost cinematic experience." Mailer's essay, entitled "Footnote to Death in the Afternoon" in a nod to Hemingway, precedes the photographs, as does Mailer's translation of a Federico Garcia Lorca poem, "Lament for Ignacio Sánchez Mejías." The 91 images are credited to seven different "leading photographers" -- Robert Daley, Peter Buckley, Vincent J.-R. Kehoe, Bob Cato, Francis Laping, Peter Rosaly, Luis Miguel Dominguin -- with a handful of others attributed to various photo agencies (usually with the individual photographers identified, including a single image shot by Sanford Roth). The work of Cato, Daley and Dominguin predominates, and the book was designed by Lidia Ferrara. PLEASE NOTE that this book was originally issued as part of a book-and-record set. Signed by Author .
