Thornton Niven Wilder (1897 - 1975), American playwright and novelist, won three Pulitzer Prizes, one for fiction (The Bridge of San Luis Rey) and two for plays (Our Town and The Skin of Our Teeth).

Inscribed and signed by Thornton Wilder: "For Carlyn R. Leichter with all the best wishes of Thornton Wilder" (on the title page). Recipient's large bookplate on front flyleaf.
