London: Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, and Green, 1831. An uncommon history by the Scottish jurist and historian Sir James Mackintosh (1765-1832), along with two other great writers of the age. This is an incomplete set (5 of the original 8 volumes) of mostly First Editions, in Very Good to Very Good (Plus) condition. Marbled paper-covered boards with leather spine and tips. Four raised bands on the spines, with gilt ruling and decorations. Titled in gilt in a black compartment, the Volume in a red one. Clean texts, exceptionally bright and clear, with no foxing. Volume #2 (1831) has x, 381 pages, with appendix; Volume #3 (1832) has xlii, 367 pages, appendix; Volume #4 (1835) has xv, 377 pages; Volume #6 (1843) has xii, 367 pages; Volume #8 has xiii, 356 pages, with a frontis illustration. Rubbed at the margins, and the leather is a bit dry, but still an attractive set. . Firts Thus. Half-Leather. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
