Sobre este artículo
London: T. & T. Payne [imprint to p. 319: typis Jacksonianis excudebant J. Sammells & M. Ritchie],, 1789. Elegant Georgian blue morocco First edition of Sallust published under the editorship of the classical scholar Henry Homer (17531791), a desirable edition in any form, here in a handsome early binding and in remarkable condition. Dibdin commended this edition: "A beautiful and correct book... The text is given with the same purity as are those of Caesar, Livy, and Pliny, by the same excellent scholar. It contains an index of the various readings according to Havercamp's edition. 'This edition', says a learned correspondent [uncited], 'is absolutely immaculate; so are all Homer's editions; the accuracy of the editor was wonderful'" (Thomas Frognall Dibdin, An Introduction to the... Greek and Latin Classics, 1827, vol. II, p. 388). Octavo (236 x 142 mm). Early 19th-century blue morocco, spine lettered and richly gilt to compartments direct, gilt foliate borders to covers, gilt beaded turn-ins, pink endpapers, gilt edges, pink silk bookmark. Light insect damage at head of front hinge, a few pages unopened, otherwise with very little wear. A lovely copy, wide-margined and tall, clean and fresh. ESTC T135043.
