Edinburgh: Robert Allen, Printer. Good. 1791. Single sheet. Date: March 26, 1791 (Portion of the word Mercury torn off at top edge) This 200+ year old Scottish newspaper measures 13" wide x 18.5" long. It was printed as a large sheet (twice the measurement listed) and folded to form a four page newspaper. Of interest are two notices for Circuses. One is on the front page and describes "manly feats of activity upon one, two and three horses, " "ground and lofty tumbling, equilibriums on the slack wire, " etc. Another is on page 3 describing in less detail Mrs. Parker's circus. The paper also includes news of the world, news of Scotland and news of Great Britain, advertisements, business & banking news, deaths, Parliamentary news, ships ready to sail, land and houses for let, etc. The tax stamp on lower corner is in red for a half penny. Founded in 1720, this paper was issued three times per week. Issues may have some folds and creasing with ragged edges, but all generally legible and free of significant foxing. ; single sheet .
