Oversize dark red cloth binding with wear to cover corners, none severe, clean, spine lettering still bright; mildly shaken volume, some signature gaping, a few margin check marks and notes, o/w unmarked pages. A penciled note on the the Introduction page reads: "This material covers the 7 vols. of the "Force Collection" [i.e. Peter Force] of drafts and letters to and from Washington. It is including the great calendar of Washington Papers issued in 1915, where it is indicated by the reference. "W". Inscribed and signed by Charles H. Lincoln, the front flyleaf, with his signature, to Sam F. Batcelder. Contents: Intro / Calender of Manuscripts from Washington /Calendar of Manuscripts to Washiington / Index.
