A thorough review of Californias state bird, the California Quail by the well-known California naturalist, A. Starker Leopold. From the research collection of Michigan naturalist, Durward L. Allen with his signature on the front endpaper. Warmly inscribed by Leopold to Durward Allen on the title page. Name stamp of the Ron Sauey Memorial Library on rear endpaper and top page edge. Ron Sauey was co-founder of the International Crane Foundation, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
