Five spine compartments between raised bands; black leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title. Gilt-tooled author in fourth compartment; gilt rules between compartments. All page edges speckled red. Grey endpapers. Not the edition that was issued as part of the publisher's Collection of British Authors. A novel set in the third century A.D. in the city of Sicca Veneria, in the Roman colony of northern Africa. In Very Good+ Condition: boards and edges are lightly rubbed; some upper page corners are creased; clean and tight.
