Hinge on front broken and repaired; " Robinson's Calmet" in gold on spine**; 4 corners have been strengthened; foxing almost throughout; NO page tears and no cnrs turned over, indicates that it has perhaps never been read, but a rear free end paper has a semi-circular piece torn out by someone looking for writing paper. Prev owner's signature ( x x x Wood) dated 1854 and an ink blot. Frontis (Plan of Jerusalem), folding Map of Asia Minor, folding Map of Canaan, Map of the Countries S of the Dead Sea, Map of Judea in the time of Christ, all additions for the American Edition. The leather has been oiled. Augustine Calmet was a French Benedictine monk and wrote in the early 1700 s. Copies of the English Edition are available but the American Revised Edition by Robinson is Very Rare (= "Unique") . Please expect extra overseas postage. **Optional: The title on the spine appears to me to be misleading. I have prepared 2 skivers in red skivertex to be affixed at no extra cost in the relevant spine segments. These skivers give the correct short title of the book and the full names of the 2 authors responsible for the revisions and additions as per the title page and as above. Please advise your choice.

All books with dust jackets/ wraps are completely covered in 50 or 75 micron High Density PolyEthylene (= "plastic" = archival acetate film), as are books without dust jackets costing more than US$20. Soft-covers and hard-covers without Dj s are covered in adhesive plastic. While we have neither insects nor dampness in our shop, you might find that the total plastic cover keeps both at bay. Covering the whole book means that the common edge-wear described by so many dealers is mostly absent in our books. Any "plastic" is easily removable, it is not adhered to the book nor to the dust jacket. We do not use sellotape nor any other tape which discolours. We restore books where necessary and describe ONLY EXCEPTIONS to a perfect state. Faults in expensive books are described in huge detail. WHEN RESTORED the majority of "faults'' are visible only with great difficulty and certainly NOT in an image. To avoid misleading you we include few images. Please be guided by the very full descriptions. If no faults are described in a cheaper book, please be guided by the Condition. RESTORATION SERVICE. We restore any book younger than 1800 making your grotty, broken old books look like beautifully-cared-for precious old books. DUST JACKETS IN FACSIMILE.
