Complete in two volumes. 128pp; 116pp. Contemporary full dark brown morocco extensively tooled in blind and ruled in gold on the sides, spines with four raised bands, stamped in blind and lettered in gold, decorated endpapers, inner dentelles ruled in gold, all edges gilt. Engraved titles. Fifty-four plates with engravings in volume I (one is the map of Canada): sixty-six plates with engravings in volume II. Drawings by W. H. Bartlett engraved by J. Cousen, H. Griffiths, S. Bradshaw, E. Benjamin, and others. Most plates with tissued frontispieces and titles in English, French and German. Contemporary owner's name on flyleaves, short contemporary inscription on second blank of volume I. Light wear to edges, some scattered foxing to plates, mostly confined to edges (but more obvious on frontispieces and titles). An attractive near fine set. "It is the finest of Mr. Bartlett's works."
