Sobre este artículo

Denver, CO: Printed and bound, Frank S. Thayer, Publisher, [ca. 1900]. 8vo. Printed title, and 16 printed photographic images (4.25 x 6.75 in.) mounted on thick card stock (5.25 x 7.75 in.), bound in accordion-style format, and mounted in folding portfolio, w/ remnants of snap clasp, embossed image of The Royal Gorge on front cover in blind, gilt lettering (some wear, rubbing, wear to corners), still VG- copy, from the library of Morrill S. Pope (1891-1967), who was the supervisor of the Mill for Pope & Talbot, and had his house barged to Port Gamble from Port Ludlow in 1929. Early printing of this very popular photographic souvenir filled with William Henry Jackson’s famed views of Colorado’s canyons, rivers, waterfalls, and mountains. This work features views of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Clear Creek Canyon, Platte Canyon with bicyclist riding down the tracks, beautiful shots of Grand River Canyon near Glenwood Springs, Eagle River Canyon, and Boulder Canyon. Jackson’s (1843-1942) and his son Fred in their Denver studio had entered into a partnership with Chain & Hardy booksellers to produce view books such as these related to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. See: Mautz, pp. 171, 304.
