Biscombe Gardner with some lovely coloured plates. The first edition, first impression of this work. A celebration of Canterbury, with descriptions by W. Teignmouth Shore, who shares observations and historical sketches of city, in particular of the cathedral and the Canterbury pilgrims. Beautifully pictured in colour by W. Biscombe Gardner, British painter and wood engraver known for his watercolours and oils.  With a folding sketch plan of Canterbury and the cathedral and publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally excellent with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous owner's gift inscription to the front free endpaper, dated 21/5/11. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting throughout. Illustrated with full page coloured plates and a folding sketch plan of Canterbury and the cathedral. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
