Macmillan and Co. Limited. London. 1935. TWO VOLUMES. Early reprints. Both are third impression reprints of the original 1930 edition. Previous owners name written neatly on the front free endpapers. A fine, bright pair, the pages crisp and clean. Original publishers blue cloth with gilt lettering and ruling to spines. The boards and spines are beautifully bright and clean having been protected by the publishers original brown paper, black printed dustwrappers. The wrappers are in near fine condition without any significant loss to edges but one crease to the front panel of volume two and a tiny hole (about 0.2 x 0.1 inch) to the spine of volume one, not affecting the lettering. Minor uniform darkening to both wrapper spines but overall a very near fine early set of this important work.

XXXIV. London; "Translated for the Pamphleteer exclusively," 1821. [2] + pp. [291] - 345 + [1] blank. 8vo., sewn printed wrappers, paper spine, front cover bearing title and publication data, inside front cover being an advertisement for the pamphlet and announcing the publication elsewhere of the new edition of Malthus' Principles of Political Economy. The rear cover is blank. There is minor creasing to the bottom corner, and there is occasional neat graphite pencil underlining and margin markings/notes, on only a few pages. Very good overall. Second edition, but the first to contain this critical attack on Adam Smith’s laissez-faire doctrines to the East India Trade in the Wealth of Nations. The long criticism appears on pages clxi-clxxxvi and begins; "Of the example of Portugese Asia cannot be better enforced by an examination of the popular arguments relative to the British commerce with India. A recent Writer on the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, has stood forth as the philosophical champion for the abolition of the Monopoly of the English United East India Company…"

London: MacMillan and Co, 1890. Hardcover. Very Good. xvi, 231 p.; 17 cm. Green cloth with black spine and cover titles. Black endpapers. Bookplate of the Belles Lettres Society of Dickinson College on front fixed endpaper indicating that this was given to the college in 1891 by G. E. Mills, chair of the Book Committee. Embossed Dickinson College Library stamp on title page. Mary Paley Marshall (1850-1944) was part of the first class (of 5 women) at Cambridge's Newnham College in 1871. She taught economics at Newnham and was asked to write a book based on her lectures. Her husband, Alfred Marshall, also contributed to The Economics of Industry before publication. It was popular and reprinted many times. When his larger work The Principles of Economy first appeared in 1890, he opposed any further printings of The Economics of Industry, indicating that this was presumably the final printing. Extremely scarce. In Very Good Condition: cover is rubbed; call number written in white and…

Descripción:
New York: Harper Torchbooks, 1962. Third Edition. Cover slightly age-toned, crease down center of spine, no underlining, no previous owner's names, not exlibrary. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Joseph Alois Schumpeter (February 8, 1883 January 8, 1950) was an Moravian-born economist and political scientist, who was Austrian and later became an American citizen. He is one of the most influential economists who lived in the first half of 20th century. For some time after his death, Schumpeter's views were most influential among heterodox economists, especially European, who were interested in industrial organization, evolutionary theory, and economic development, and who tended to be on the other end of the political spectrum of Schumpeter and were often also influenced by Keynes, Karl Marx, and Thorstein Veblen. Robert Heilbroner was one of Schumpeter's most renowned pupils, who wrote extensively about him in "The Worldly Philosophers". Another outstanding student of…
