Hardcover has olive cloth-covered boards with silver spine and cover lettering. Covers may once have been a lighter color. Front cover has stamped multi-color crests in center. Many black and white illustrations. Fold-out color frontispiece map of South America is undamaged. Binding strong and undamaged, but getting a little loose with age and use. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with some fraying at tips and spine ends. Covers worn and soiled. The spine is darkened and has a half inch puncture near the tail. Soft dent at the fore edge of the front cover. Imprinted bookplate on front endpaper. What appears to be a name written in pencil on the rear endpaper. Front free endpaper creased. Endpapers lightly foxed. Page edges lightly foxed. Some pages have handling smudges. Pages very lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. 715 pages. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
