Sobre este artículo

London: Oxford University Press, 1939. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8" by 5". M. D. Johnston. A first edition copy of the final book in the 'Springdale' series by popular children's writer Dorita Fairlie Bruce, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. First Edition. In the scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrations include a colour frontispiece and five black-and-white plates by M. D. Johnston. This is the sixth book in Bruce's 'Springdale' series, a group of novels set at a Scottish school by the seaside resort of Redchurch. This book follows a group of friends that includes Anne Willoughby and Primula Mary Beton as they transition into older figures in their school. Dorita Fairlie Bruce (1885-1970) was a Scottish children's author. She wrote the popular Dimsie series, which sold half a million hardback copies by 1947, making Bruce one of the most popular children's writers of the 1920s and 1930s. Collated, complete. In the original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. Minimal edge wear to extremities with light bumping to the head and tail of spine. Fading to the margins of boards and to the spine, with a few marks to rear board. Prior owner's pencil inscription to front endpaper. Dust wrapper is very smart. Minimal edge wear to the edges of wraps, with fading to the spine region. Lightly age toned to fly leaves and reverse, particularly the spine area, with light spots. A few closed tears to top of wraps with light chipping. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout with the odd spot. Very Good
