Sobre este artículo

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1945. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good Only. 7.5" by 5". None. The first edition of this exciting novel featuring Hugh 'Bulldog' Drummond, a war veteran-turned-detective. This is the first edition of this work, in original publisher's cloth binding with the unclipped dust wrapper. The Bulldog Drummond collection is a series of novels featuring the character Hugh 'Bulldog' Drummond. They were originated by Herman Cyril McNeile, a British soldier and author who wrote under the pseudonym 'Sapper' due to the fact that serving officers in the British Army were not allowed to publish under their own name. Gerard Fairlie was an English writer and scriptwriter, on whom McNeile supposedly based Bulldog Drummond. After McNeiles' death in 1937, Fairlie continued the Bulldog Drummond series. Drummond is a First World War veteran looking for adventure and excitement. In this particular work, Drummond encounters his alluring, lifelong enemy, Irma Peterson. Alongside the difficulty of figuring out Irma's plan, Drummond must also navigate the war effort, with his colleagues Sergeant Darrell and Lance-Corporal Longworth. With previous owners ink inscription of Elizabeth Dundee, to the front endpaper. With William Lewis Printers label to the front paste down. In publisher's original cloth binding with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with slight bumping to the extremities, mainly to the head of the spine. Rear hinge starting but holding firm, with page 255 half attached. With previous owners ink inscription of Elizabeth Dundee, to the front endpaper. With William Lewis Printers label to the front paste down. The odd mark to endpapers. Dust wrapper in good condition, with chipping to the extremities and loss to the wrap to the top and to the spine, causing loss to title. Tape to the reverse of the wrap, with the odd spot and age toning. Sunning to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd mark. Very Good
