The interior of the book is clean and tight, with small ownership stamps on the front and back free end papers, some dog-eared pages, and a small dent on the edge of the pages. The red covers are bright and are in very good condition, with just a bit of light wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with no library label. It has been protected in a removeable plastic cover since it was published, so has very little wear and no damage. Overall, then, an attractive reading copy, but no more. Synopsis: The adventures of Captain Charles Carey, Cadogan's Regiment of Dragoons, who fought under Marlborough. Carey becomes a spy in French territory, and is entrusted with a perilous mission that calls forth not only his outstanding skill as a swordsman, but also his reserves of courage and resource. His most dangerous opponent is the cunning Rupert Creighton, who works with the French Intelligence; but Charles also finds himself faced with a deep and mysterious treachery directed personally against himself.
