Estes and Lauriat, 1898. Hardcover. VERY GOOD. SIGNED by the author and publisher(s ... both names in one hand) in pencil on the limitation page. This copy, hand-numbered '8' is one of the first hundred printed on Japanese hand-made paper and finely bound, with a second frontispiece SIGNED by the illustrator in pencil. Both frontispiece etchings with tissue guard intact. 16mo, Half Green Morocco leather over marbled paper over boards, five raised and blind-ruled bands, gilt spine lettering, gilt marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, fore and tail edges deckled. Extremities moderately rubbed, spine faintly sunned, clean and tight otherwise. Deluxe edition issued in celebration of 100,000 copies sold.
