Ends of spine are lightly bumped with some fading towards edges of boards; There is also a little bit of light staining to the front board and more so to the back board, with some mild rippling to the cloth. Clean, tight text block. In dust jacket, not price clipped; jacket is somewhat rubbed with some wear to edges in places. The jacket is wrinkled and wrippled on the back where it seems to have been affected by some moisture. The novels are set in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars and centred on the friendship of English naval captain Jack Aubrey and the Irishуatalan physician Stephen Maturin. The 20-novel series is known for its well-researched and highly detailed portrayal of early 19th-century life, as well as its authentic and evocative language. 1972
