The personal narrative of Samuel Tetherow, son on Oregon pioneer and wagon train master Solomon Tetherow. Also included are Lockley's interviews with Jack McNemee, whose father built the fourth house in Portland, and with Lavinia Hiltibrand Cottel, the grand-daughter of Solomon Tetherow. Concludes with a reproduction of the constitution, minutes, and proceedings of the Savannah [Missouri] Oregon Emigrating Society (Tetherow's company, April 1845), a census of the group, a list of the cattle drivers, and a roll of the armed men.
