Joseph Pierre Ferrier was a 19th-century French soldier who, from his experiences in the military, was able to write numerous books on his experiences in the Middle East. One of his books was 'Caravan Journeys and Wanderings', a book which describes customs, cultures, and geographical sites in Persia, Afghanistan, Turkistan, and parts of Russia and India. It should be noted that this first edition contains an impressive folding map of the Middle East at the back.
