Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Water staining to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Sticker and marking to front pastedown and endpaper. Minor dog-eared corners. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed.

'For Eddy with fraternal affection - David aka John Le Carre'. Comprising two novels by John Le Carre 'Call for the Dead' and 'A Murder of Quality'.  'Call for the Dead' was Le Carre's first novel, and was first issued in 1961. It introduces John le Carre's recurring character, George Smiley. 'A Murder of Quality' was Le Carre's second novel. It continues the story of George Smiley. This is the only novel set outside the espionage community. This proof copy has Le Carre's occasional grammatical corrections in ink to the margins on pages 23 and 31.A very scarce uncorrected proof of this important espionage author's works.
