Sobre este artículo
Tobaccoville, North Carolina:: Catbird (on the Yadkin) Press,, 2021.. Edition of 40. 6 x 8" on Bugra and Saint Armand papers with amate bark slip sheet. Text handset in Bembo and Centaur. Letterpress print. Handsewn binding. Signed and numbered by the artist. Terry Schupbach-Gordon: "'Carrying Lydia Madrid' was made to celebrate the life of Lydia Rede Madrid (1949-2020). To say that Lydia Madrid was 'a friend like no other' does not even cover the beauty of this person, or her place in the lives of so many who loved her. Lydia was a printmaker with roots deeply planted in West Texas, and the samll town of Redford, where she was born. We were joined by more things than I can list. Our love of prints, puppets and the pursuit of an adventure is just the beginning of my very long list. We found joy in the small and excitement in things as ordinary as the sound of geese above our heads. The poem begins:'you wrote me postcards for forty years, and today I put them in a box.' That is a true statement. I sorted each one as one would sort memories: collected and rambling, jumbled together and equally cherished. "The book itself will support the Lydia Rede Madrid Endowed Fellowship in Printmaking at the University of New Mexico, where she taught for so many years. ... you will find in each book an original postcard from the vast collection of cards that Lydia sent us over our forty years of friendship. "This was a very personal project and a reminder that someone you love is never gone from your heart.
