Bibliography, index. Map endpapers. Description: This copy is Signed and dated by the author, with a personalized inscription. Profusely illustrated in black and white with historic photographs, and includes reproductions of watercolor paintings by James A Lawrence (these also shown in black and white). By means of sketches of the early settlers, their communities, enterprises and social activities, Miss Dangberg has breathed life into the Carson Valley region of Nevada. The story begins while Nevada was still part of the Utah Territory, and extends to the middle of the twentieth century. Following is taken from Stanley Paher's Nevada (number 430): ''The appendix tells the story of bad man Sam Brown. The intelligently presented bibliography will prove invaluable to researchers An important book about western Nevada.'' Originally published in 1972, this is the second printing.
