With 5 steel engraved plates and numerous woodcut illustrations, some of which are full page. Vol. 1 ONLY of a six-volume set. Has 1886 ownership signature of Julian Tolmé Perkins (b. 1867), a captain in the British Army, son of Frederick Perkins, an MP, Liberal Party.
