This volume contains Castle Rackrent and The Absentee by Maria Edgeworth, with an introduction by Anne Thackeray Ritchie. Castle Rackrent is a short novel which is set prior to the Constitution of 1782 and the Absentee is another short story. Maria Edgeworth was a prolific Anglo-Irish novelist of adults' and children's literature. Illustrated by Chris Hammond with in-text illustrations. With adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine and rubbing to the joints, with fading to the spine. Previous owner inscription to the half title page. With a tear through page 167/168. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
