'Cross Where the Road is CLEAR' - A Charming 'Cat and Mouse' Children's Road Safety Poster. Illustrated by EULALIE. No Date, but number at the foot of the poster = STI/46/I - so circa1946? . This date would make sense as though British born, Eulalie spent most of her life in America but returned to the UK in 1937 after divorce. Eulalie Minfred Banks (1895-1999) was an illustrator of children's books, illustrating over 50 children's books. She started her career in drawing at the age of 12 designing Christmas cards. In 1913 Banks published her first picture book, 'Bobby in Bubbleland'. This very large Road Safety Poster (30" x 19 3/4") is in full colour with an illustration of a cat peering around a corner while a clothed mouse carrying a bunch of flowers walks smiling, oblivious of any danger, towards a road. The poster was issued by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, London. Slightly creased/crumpled at edges. A few edge repairs with clear archival tape to blank reverse, a few light brown marks on the reverse. Overall Very Good. A Delightful EULALIE illustrated poster - Bright and clean. Scarce.
