He was a noted professor of astronomy and medicine at Vienna University where he held the offices of Dean and Proconsul repeatedly, and the personal physician to both Maximilian I and Ferdinand L Tannstetter was closely connected wìth Konrad Celtes and his Viennese cìrcle and is listed as an honorary member of the Sodalitas Danubia, the Austrìan branch of Celtes' lìterary club.
