Doke, for many years the Chairman of the African Language Department of the University of Rhodesia. Forming the nucleus of that University's collection on the subject, these 7000 books are presented in the form of catalogue cards from the library, reproduced in facsimile, and divided into two sections, the Author section and the Subject section. The many publications and manuscripts written by Prof. Doke are listed separately, and a biographical and bibliographical sketch by G. Fortune is also included.
