Among the highlights noted were the following: an extensive series of works on North and South America, the Caribbean, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand; a fine colored copy of Blaeu's Theâtre du monde; Choris's Vues et paysages des régions equinoxiales, 1826; the autograph manuscript of Cullum's On the manners and customs of the North American Indians, with 16 drawings, unpublished; a presentation copy to Peter Collinson of Lewis Evans's Map of the Middle British Colonies, 1755, with others in a volume; an unrecorded memorial of Fernandez de Quiros concerning the discovery of Australia (Madrid); a finely coloured set of wall-maps of the continents by Sanson; letters of Benedict Arnold, Cadwallader Colden, George Washington and Ulysses Grant (to Abraham Lincoln); early documents relating to Georgia; and a remarkable unpublished diary of the American War of Independence by a Hessian private soldier Near Very Good.
