Story Book Press. Good+ in Good dust jacket. 1953. Hardcover. Clean and tight. Signed on title page. "May your saddle bags always be full of beans and bacon." Hortense Warner Ward and a brand. There is also a gift inscription on front flyleaf from someone else. Corners and ends of spine are bumped and shelf worn, with a little foxing. There are also some spots on the back cover. Endpages have darkened. Pages have browned. Dust jacket is shelf worn with chips and rips. Book is very good, dust jacket is just good and has a label shadow on the front. Former owner put little slips of paper at the plates of illustrations that made a darker spot in the margins. Skimming through the book it looks like most are Texas and Mexico brands. It was written by a woman here in Corpus Christi, Texas with advice from J. Frank Dobie. The author divides the book up into sections on the types of brands (Cross, Sun and Moon, Dog Brand, Serpent, Weapons, Maize, etc.) and gives explanations for the configurations. Lots of information on culture and mythology, this would be an excellent addition to a library.; Signed by Author .
