Each case has gold-stamped front cover titles with paper title slips on the spines. . Each Chitsu contains: a. A silver/gold bound book of texts and black & white actual tipped-in photographs showing aspects of Cha-ya [Tea Houses], architecture, gardens, rock gardens, internal Cha-ya details, Fusuma, Shoji, furniture, Tatami mats, other accessories, including floor plans and other drawings and details. . b. A large envelope [blue or red] containing large [31.5 x 39 cm.] color & black & white loose photographs of various aspects of the Cha-ya, interior, exterior, gardens, rock gardens, rock & stone paths, water vessels, landscape, internal roof design, Shoji sliding doors, Tokunoma, a virtual photographic essay illustrating all aspects of the Cha-ya and its surroundings and environment. Each photograph is numbered, with title which matches that shown on the inside of the Chitsu, for easy collation. . c. Large folders, [number varies with each volume] which contain three-dimensional models of each Cha-ya, Temples and selected representative examples discussed, illustrated and outlined in this series. Some also include floor plans, garden plans, additional informational sheets. The three-dimensional Cha-ya are easily put together on the inside of each folder, with tabs and slots, some are colored, all are impressive and show the true nature, interiors and exteriors of each example, a Deluxe Edition, seldom found with such lavish models. . d. Title board. Each contains a matching Chitsu cloth edged board with title and publisher's name [one per side], as a protector of the contents. . e. Cardboard insert to protect the contents. Some volumes also have a cardboard sheet, used to protect the contents. . *** RARITY: The works has always been RARE from the date of issue, it was over-subscribed and all 500 numbered copies immediately sold out and out-of-print the day of publication. . The work seldom comes to market, this is our first complete and pristine example in over 53 years of tenure. . This is a spectacular item, with very high quality production, materials, high production cost and the use of the finest of handmade Washi papers, with intensive hand-labor to create and install the three dimensional models into the folders. . . An exquisite example exhibiting the art of the Deluxe Japanese book and book binding. . *** CONDITION: . The set is uniformly bound in the original publisher's varied color, gold-flecked cloth, containing all called for parts, complete as issued, in NEW, Unused condition. . Chitsu: The folding cloth cover is pristine as issued, with an occasional and usual but very feint & moderate bit of edge foxing to the inside of the Chitsu end papers, or a few minimal foxing to be expected of a book more than 55 years old. . The Chitsu cases are all contained in the original cardboard protective boxes with title slips. There is some of the usual wear to these boxes, which have accomplished their task of protecting the precious contents. . All protective cardboard boxes have been reinforced corners or edges using brown Kraft paper where necessary to strengthen them. There is evidence of old, original tape marks on all. . The internal folders are pristine, each complete with all parts containing the three-dimensional Cha-ya room models as issued. per the list found inside each Chitsu cover end papers. In addition to the three-dimensional models inside there are several folders with many floor and garden plans. This special publication has a large number of these three-dimensional models, which keenly illustrated the Tea Rooms in great detail, with internal drawing and features clearly depicted.
