New York: Pantheon, 1963. First Edition (SIGNED) . Hardcover. Fine in cloth-covered boards and dust jacket with slight edgewear and the impression of a paperclip. Laid into this copy, which bears the distinctive bookplate of Robert and Ethel Asher, is Myrdal's 1952 Christmas card to the Asher's. The card has a blindstamped coat of arms on the front panel. The inside panels have a color photograph of the Stockholm City Hall on the left and a printed Christmas/New Year greeting on the right beneath which Myrdal has written in ink, "Hoping to see you soon[.] Your friend Gunnar". On the rear panel written in another hand is "1952".
