136 pages with tables and diagrams. Octavo (8 3/4" x 5 3/4") issued in wrappers. (Bibliotheca Van der Linde-Niemeijeriana:5283) 1st edition. The Ostend International tournament series started in 1905. In 1907 the last of the really great Ostend tournaments was held. Six players, chosen somewhat arbitrarily, played in a four-round grandmaster tournament. Another tournament, called a Masters tournament, was held among 29 players, many whom either were or became grandmasters. First prize in the grandmaster group went to Tarrasch who not only won a gold medal but also the title of world champion tournament player. Scores: Tarrasch 12 1/2; Schlechter 12; Marsahall, Janowski 11 1/2; Burn 8, Chigorin 4 1/2. Condition: Spine chipped, edge wear and age darkening, small gouge in back wrapper else about a very good copy in the original wrappers.. First Edition. Original Wraps. About Very Good. Octavo.
