Kazallon with 44 contemporary newspaper-like B&W full-page wood-engravings, 192 pages. SCARCE compiously illustrated and presumed first edition in Italian (1876), translation authorized by Jules Verne. Jules Verne (1828 - 1905) was a French novelist, poet, playwright, and world-recognized Grand Master of science fiction and adventure. His series Voyages extraordinaires, a widely popular series of scrupulously researched adventure novels, included Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). The Survivors of the Chancellor: Diary of J. R. Kazallon, Passenger (French: Le Chancellor: Journal du passager J.-R. Kazallon) is an 1875 novel written by Jules Verne about the final voyage of a British sailing ship, "The Chancellor," told from the perspective of one of its passengers (in the form of a diary). ÉDOUARD RIOU illustrated the first French Edition pulished by Hetzel (1875), which was #13 of Verne's famous Extraordinary Voyages' series.
