Sobre este artículo
New York: George H. Doran Company, 1912. First American Edition. Octavo (19cm). Maroon cloth boards, lettered in gilt on spine; viii, 309pp. Slight rubbing and wear; spine gilt a little dull; text clean, tight and unmarked - a solid, VG copy, lacking the presumed dustwrapper. First American edition, bound from British sheets. Title page is a cancel with the Doran imprint; spine cloth bears the original Hodder & Stoughton slug. Classic work on the sociology of rural villages and the changes wrought by advancing technology. Sturt (1863-1927) was a wheelwright by trade, and wrote from a rather unusual perspective - a sensitive, self-educated tradesman, documenting and eulogizing the passing of pre-industrial Britain. The first edition is somewhat uncommon.
