Charge! a Story of Briton and Boer, G Manville Fenn. Published by W & R Chambers Limited, London & Edinburgh, Circa 1899. 12mo up to 7½" tall., 391pp. With 7 illustrations by W.H.C. Groome; 32pp. rear publisher's ads, some with full illustrations. Orange cloth boards with illustration sto front and spine in gilt, black and beige; grey endpapers. Prize label to pastedown dated 1906; very light and tiny foxing to preliminaries and otherwise contents are free of markings, tears or folds. Light rubbing to corners and spine edges and very light soiling spots to boards.
An adventure story of the Great Britain Army Colonial forces in South Africa. George Manville Fenn (1831-1909) was a prolific English novelist, journalist, editor and educationalist. Many of his novels were written with young adults in mind. William Henry Charles Groome (1854-1913) was one of the most prolific children's book illustrators of his era, while also being a highly skilled and respected watercolour artist.
