Sobre este artículo

Chicago, IL: Blue Spiral 1, 2015. First Edition. First Printing.. Softcover. Fine/No Dust Jacket, As Issued.. Chicago, IL: Blue Spiral 1, 2015. Softcover. Fine/None, As Issued. First Edition/First Printing. 24 pages. Exhibition Catalog. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited one-time-only print run as a softcover original only. There is no ISBN. The Catalog is now rare. A brilliant production by Blue Spiral 1: Regular-sized volume format. Pictorial softcovers with titles on the cover, as issued. Art by Charles Ladson. Text by Jordan Ahlers and Dr. Richard Gruber. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Chicago to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is exemplary in every respect. Without DJ, as issued. Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition held at the Blue Spiral 1 Gallery Chicago in 2015. Presents "Charles Ladson". A delectable, representative selection of the artist's psychologically resonant and mythically suggestive work. His masterpiece, "Leviathan", which is inspired by Herman Melville's "Moby Dick", is spectacular, in its scale and vision simultaneously: A gigantic whale is captured and somehow hoisted up in a sling by a fragile ship, an event richly imagined (after reading Melville) rather than actually witnessed by the artist. Dr. Richard Gruber traces the unmistakable origins of Ladson's itself original body of work to Lucian Freud, on the one hand, and Andrew Wyeth, on the other. The fusion of those (potentially devastating) influences in Charles Ladson's own work is nothing less than masterly. An absolute "must-have" title for Charles Ladson collectors. This title is a contemporary art classic. As far as we know, this is the only copy of the Exhibition Catalog available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: This Catalog is very beautifully produced, a keeper of a keepsake. A fine copy is therefore not just collectible and desirable, but preferable. A rare copy thus. 14 color plates. One of the most brilliant artists of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO DEBRA BERMINGHAM AND ROBERT DUKES TITLES IN OUR CATALOG).

Sobre Modern Rare

ModernRare.com is exclusively an online bookstore. We believe this is the best way to satisfy our customers' expectations. Unlike an open bookstore, where books are routinely handled and may deteriorate, we guarantee the condition of our books as described. We specialize in modern firsts, photography, the arts, and erotica. You will also find a fine selection of signed copies, limited editions, and memorabilia because our ultimate goal is to deepen the pleasure of collecting books. We carry titles that we ourselves like and believe in -- books that we think will excite, enchant, and endure.
