Stated First Edition. 15.8 x 24 cm blue cloth backed paper boards with blue stamped vignette to the front, pink stamped titles to the spine and borzoi device blind stamped to the rear. Grey endpapers, pp (xii) 161(3) with illustrations by Joseph Schindelman and original unclipped dust jacket priced at $3.95. The boards are a little rubbed at the bottom fore edge corners with minor shelf wear along the bottom edges. The binding is firm and square. Internally, there is no name inscription or bookplate and the pages are very clean. The dust jacket has a small faint tide mark about 1cm up from the bottom edge of the back panel and around onto the rear flap extending up to 4cm on the rear edge. The tide mark extends onto the rear board in a radius of 4 m out from the bottom corner. There is also a small 2cm drip mark on the bottom edge of the back panel. It is the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, continuing the story of young Charlie Bucket and eccentric candymaker Willy Wonka as they travel in the Great Glass Elevator. Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator was first published in the United States by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. in 1972, and in the UK by George Allen & Unwin in 1973.
