Sobre este artículo

UK,12mo HB minus dw/dj,1st edn thus,[Originally and first published 1927,the 2nd to 4th impressions the same year, and 1 each in 1928 and 1929 respectively. This edn,May,1930,as a Popular Edition,so 1st thus.] VG+.Two different owner's ink names -1 to front pastedown, other with date (Autumn 1933) to top edge of front free endpaper.Publisher's original,sharp-cornered,textured pale grey and speckled linen-covered boards, with an oblong blocked black double-lined border, with black lettered title+author to a pale blue background panel,to both front board and head of spine/backstrip.Negligible shelf-wear,bumping, creasing to edges and corners - with no nicks, tears, fraying or splits present.Light grubbing and light discolouring to outer edges of both boards, spine similarly and lightly discoloured, rear board plain and undecorated.Plain white endpapers with hinges intact and without cracking - no splits of tears to either.Top edges aged/toned(?),fore-edges lightly aged/toned with very minimal foxing/spotting; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - virtually pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - appears unread, other than my own collation.UK,12mo HB minus dw/dj,1st edn thus.[Popular Edition.],vii-xiipp+2- 305pp [paginated] includes author's preface [in which he mentions as part of his inspiration in his hobby, was a book by Warde Fowler - 'A Year with the Birds' - see my book ID rja984021,for a 1931,UK,8vo HB,reprint edn],a contents list/table,XIV (14) chapters each with a b/w woodcut vignetted chapter head+tailpiece,by Robert Gibbings,a Conclusion and an appendix - a checklist of birds mentioned, with Latin names attached; plus [unpaginated] half-title,b/w vignetted woodcut illustrated title page,a dedication and an THE END page.

Visually the exterior appearance is still acceptable for a book of it's age,and particularly internally, the book is in an exceptional condition/ state of preservation and presentation. It is only the minor exterior faults described that prevent a slightly higher grading. A book on the author's fascinating birdwatching experiences and reminiscences dealing mostly, but not exclusively, with birdsong, and also about bird life which takes place at various times throughout the year: January - early song; April - return of the warblers; May - month of full song; June & July - from full to least song; August and September - the decline of summer; Nests and Eggs; On Taming Birds and Waterfowl too.
