The Buell family of Ludlow was descended from William Buell (or Be well) of Chesterton, Huntingdonshire, England, who came to New England about 1630 and settled at Dorchester, Mass., but removed a few years later to indsor, Conn., where the family took a prominent part in the early history of the town.Chauncey Buell,' the first of the Ludlow Buells, was born March 1, 1793, at Somers, Conn., coming to Ludlow about 1820, where he died Sept. 12, 1853; married April 24, 1821, at Longmeadow, Anne Lathrop, born Dec. 24, 1794, at East Wiindsor, Conn., died Feb. 17, 1886.
