Sobre este artículo
London: Duckworth and Co. , 1904. Cloth. Very Good. 10.5" by 8". Not Stated. A scarce limited edition of this illustrated work depicting Chelsea Old Church. In the original publisher's brown cloth binding, with gilt lettering to the front and to the spine. This is a limited edition of the work, with three hundred and twenty copies printed on fine paper. In this work, Randall Davies explores the history of Chelsea Old Church, a historical, Grade I listed building, constructed in the 12th century. This Anglican church is part of the Church of England, being a parish for the Diocese of London. It is also known as All Saints Church, located near Albert Bridge in Chelsea. Davies incorporates many different details surrounding this church, including the monuments, the church goods and furniture, as well as the connection to religious figures, such as Sir Thomas Moore. Davies also includes information on Chelsea at the time, with history on the local Manor House, which was linked to the church. With eighteen illustrative plates throughout, including a frontispiece of the church from 1788. Collated, complete. With a library bookplate of Saint Mary's Abbey, Buckfast, to the front paste down. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing, mainly to the joints and to the spine. Light bumping to the extremities and the occasional mark to boards. Offsetting to the endpapers, with a library bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the odd spot, mainly to the first and last pages and to the plates. Very Good
