Sobre este artículo

New York:: Stein and Day, Publishers, 1978. A square, tight copy. Sharp corners. Small ink mark on top edge (remainder mark?). The Dust Jacket is bright and shiny. No owner's name or bookplate. No underlining. No highlighting. No margin notes. First printing with "First Published in 1978" so stated on the copyright page. Illustrated with chess board diagrams throughout. Index. Bound in the original brown boards with a black spine lettered in shiny gold. From the Dust Jacket: "A king's treasury of chess stories and unusual games and problems for budding masters, sideline kibitzers, and rainy-Sunday-afternoon beginners... [The book is filled with] unusual problems and annotated games dedicated to the proposition that chess is supposed to be fun... Here are stories of famous grandmasters who were two fisted drinkers, of a threatened queen leading to a fight and a broken rib, and a chubby young Czech champion falling out of his chair. The New York police once questioned World Chess Champion Steinitz after they intercepted post cards he was receiving from Russia -- post cards carrying strange code-like notation... Illustrated with game diagrams and overflowing with privileged lore from the world's great chess clubs, CHESS TO ENJOY is as instructive as it is engaging." . First Edition.. Hardcover. Near Fine condition./Very Good DJ (price clipped). Illus. by Ternay, Bill (jacket design). 8vo. (vi), 227pp..

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
