The author who also has written extensively on Illinois railroads had made this his final and most complete study of the Chicago Surface Lines. Not only is it the finest pictorial record with texts explaining each one, but the author has concentrated on equipment and routings. Nearly 600 black & white photographs, covers the period 1837-1947. Photos of all car types, rosters, along with a history of all street cars and bus lines. This was when Chicago had the world's largest street railway. Bound in red cloth lettered in gilt, near fine in near fine unclipped pictorial dust jacket.
